Summer of 2009 the Highlights for me

by: The Messer The Messer 15th September 09 - Posted in: User Articles
I wrote this as art as some work for English at school. I darn't read it again because I'd probably end up kicking my self for being so stupid.. or something stupid along those lines.

I've told its was good, and the teacher actually enjoyed reading it, and she went on and on about it. But I didnt hear her say that.. I've never been complemented on writing skills before.. Whether true or not. I felt good ^.^

If I had to take a highlighter and mark "The Highlights of Summer 09", work on my websites would have to be 1st marked. And what a big yellow scribble of a mark it would get. The kind that stands out on the page, just like my websites standout for me for the summer.
Although being one of my highlights of summer, it also supplied my summer with some annoying moments. These annoying moments being when I got errors on my sites. Ive seen them all this summer, database errors, syntax errors, html errors, php errors, If Nama cost us a euro for every time I saw an error, the country would be in the middle of a recession, a scary prospect I know.
Although every time I got an error I spent time and persevered till I had a solution. In the end I got quite good at the hardier more complex subjects in web development. And even was asked to help some people with quite some experience in the area. And in turn was given help when needed.
I even stared writing articles online, seeing them getting thousands of views was a high point for me. I wasn't the over night success most people reading them believe, and indeed its not really a success yet. What it is though, is a pace of entertainment for some people, a haven of info for others, and an end to those reapers of death that are problems with pc's. And although it not the money making innovation that some people imagine it to be, my web antics were never about that. It was more about having something to do when it was raining out side.. during summer.

During those seldom days when it wasn't raining I loved being outside on our newly purchased trampoline. Being quite short I enjoyed these moments when one is high up in the air defying gravity as one does.
During the summer I got to go to London, my first time aboard too! We flew there with Ryanair, as we were constantly reminded by a generic voice every few minutes on the flight. Think we were charged for listening to it? It was my 1st time on a plane too, when I first heard we were flying with Ryanair, horror struck my face, I imagined we'd be flying on a corroding, primeval piece of scrap of a plane. Lucky it turned out I was wrong thankfully. The airplane we were to fly on was a boeing 737. Which shone in the sun, and towered over all us passengers. it was magnificent bit of kit. A pity we had to sit beside the wing.. Ever noticed how flimsy parts of the wings are? I unfortunately did.
London was a great place, we'd gone to see Family over there. Our fellow Meehans were great. Although my parents knew them, it was my 1st time meeting them. I enjoyed a great week over there, with 24 degrees temperatures to go with it. We visited many places while in London, Madam Tussuads for instance. The 1st event of the day there, was the 3 hour queue we got to enjoy, being cooked by that lovely hot, searing sun made it all the better.
After we returned form London, Ciaran spent his savings on a new engine go Kart. It wasn't perfect, and needs a little bit of attention to it. but boy does it fly! Even though the engine is held down under suitable restraints, but when you floor you can hear the beast inside scream "LET ME OUT" We've spent many a good evening driving around the house.. so much so that outside could be mistaken for an offroad track, what with the ridges of stones pulled up by the back wheels when we let the best of an engine stretch its legs.
All in all Summer of 2009 was full of great times, these I suppose are just some of the highlights.

Planning to learn more php and start on javasript XD But I need to learn more about web "design" Every ounce of creativity in me seems to just leave when I sit down and try and design a web page :(

Does it sound silly? :( I never bothered going to Central London either XD

I find it sometimes easier to do the design of a website prior to sitting down, also do that for getting a logical page structuring :-).
